The new theme is: The Fierce Urgency of Now – The State of Black Lives in Texas.
They have singled out Tuesday, February 26th as Advocacy Day with resolutions on the house floor and it also includes visiting legislators offices and attending committee hearings. Please let me know if you are able to attend.
This would provide opportunities for us to meet and interact with our representatives as well as other leadership from influential organizations through multiple sessions. The TLBC is currently composed of 17 Members of the Texas House of Representatives and two Senators of the Texas Senate committed to addressing the issues African Americans face across the State of Texas. Rep. Harold Dutton (Houston) currently serves as Chair for the 86th Texas Legislative Session. Former Chair was Rep. Helen Giddings.
Please contact Dr. Vanessee Burns, firstname.lastname@example.org, or Nancy Wallace if you will be able to support, participate, or attend any of the events to help represent NC100BW Dallas Metropolitan Chapter.
